Basically, when you’re not on the Uber platform app you are covered under your personal auto insurance (With the proper Uber Endorsement). You will not be covered by the Uber maintained insurance for driver-partners. Any car accidents that happen in your automobile while not driving on the Uber platform are covered by the personal auto insurance coverage that you purchase on your own.
What does all this Uber Insurance and Ride-sharing lingo mean for you?
If you do Uber and the accident happens under part 1 or part do, do not expect to get a rental car reimbursement check from your insurance company. Also, your Uber policy does not offer rental car reimbursement .
Your Massachusetts Legally Required Uber Coverage Limits
You are required by Uber to carry at least $50,000 per person/$100,000 per accident for optional bodily injury and $25,000 per accident for property damage. Some individual insurance companies require may $50,000 for property damage.
If your vehicle is financed, you are required to carry at least a $1,000 deductible for comprehensive and collision coverage.

If you happen to have an accident it will be covered by Uber and Lyft for both Part 1: While waiting for a ride request and for Part 2 On the way to pick up a rider and during a trip. For Part 3 Offline any coverage available would be through your personal auto. They may deny your claim if you don’t have the Uber Endorsement.
